Hi, all! Thanks so much for your advice on this post, rest assured that I will probably be poking some of you a lot more about it.

But for now, I have another general question: do people share seeds around that they like or that they harvested from previous years' gardens? I'm happy to go to Pemberton and buy some of their pretty pretty seeds, but I'd also love to get some seeds from things you liked and that did well for you - favor to be returned next year!

Again, any help much appreciated.

We didn't manage to save any seeds last year.

The Growing Center will probably have a seed swap on May 1 (also Morris dancers and a labyrinth walk).

this might have come up already and you might know it but anything listed as a hybrid will not give you usable seeds. They won't breed true or they will have crappy yields the second year. Heirloom varieties on the other hand will both breed true and give usable seeds. Heirlooms also tend to taste better but can sometimes be less hardy and don't grow as fast as hybrids.

I need a garden icon.
