If you already read my Examiner column and it makes you happy, I'm very pleased and I also want to thank you.

If not, I actually want to ask for a favor. The Examiner doesn't exactly pay very well, and much of my revenue is based on a mysterious metric that is driven in part by pay-per-click. So if you wouldn't mind to clicky the linky when I post these, I'd sure appreciate it. Session duration matters too, so hey, even if you don't actually read it, open it in a new tab and leave it in your browser for a while.

Your support in these tight economic times is appreciated. :)

(The above article, incidentally, is about different poly styles.)

question, is it tied to IP address, or browser instance?
Because, while I usually use FF at work, I could also run an instance of IE to open it up, as well?

I'll try to remember to not just click and read directly (as opposed to just reading an RSS feed) but also to click from each distinct IP address/machine I have access to brows from.

Also, been pimping you out to my friends and aquaintences.

I think they actually check to see how long people look at it actively (most browsers can detect if something is open in an inactive tab). So, something to keep in mind.

How about a second browser window open?

I have thought for a while both apropos of you and of [livejournal.com profile] beah that one of the tech-geeks we know ought to write something that would just make this happen. Some magic RSS sensor that sees when you update and tells my machine to go there and do it. Unethical? Well, yeah. But handy.

I'm happy to click, though I have to wonder how it knows if a window is still open or not if I run add-ons like AdBlockPlus and such, which might block whatever mechanism they use. I mean, once I load the page, I can turn off my net access and still read the article, after all.
