Truck borrowage?

My new house needs a second fridge. There are plenty to be had on Craigslist, but none of us has a vehicle sized to pick it up.

Anyone have a truck or van they'd be willing to lend or drive us in to pick it up? We live in Arlington and are looking locally. Compensation/barter can be arranged.

I have a sort of minivan, dunno if it'd fit, and you'd need people to carry it, also I'm pretty busy these days, but doesn't sound like a lot of driving. wait a half hour before plugging it in once you have it in your kitchen. give a call if you can't find someone with a truckier sort of thing.

Don't know if it helps, but Zipcar rents an open pickup truck and there is one right at the Highland Ave Gulf station for something like $12/hr....

That *is* useful, actually - and I have a Zipcar membership.

I find that it is one of the best uses of Zipcar, honestly.

If it's to be a full-sized fridge (~6 ft. tall), I suspect it wouldn't quite fit into most minivans (including mine) without it hanging out the back a little, plus they don't recommend transporting them on their sides. But in a pinch I guess it's better than nothing. Home Depot also has those flatbed trucks available to rent for $20 an hour.

I appear to have fractured a rib, so helping lift a fridge is right out, but I still have the van, Chrysler Town & Country, about 4 years old I think.

I'm so sorry! Thanks so much for your offer, though. The above advice suggests I need a truck more than a van, so probably I'll go that way with it.

Feel better!
