[100 days of 100 words] 52/100 Mother
Apr. 2nd, 2008 08:43 pmOnly a few hours until daylight. It’s coming quickly; every night seems shorter these days, every day, an eternity. On the plus side, more people walk abroad nights than when the cold reigns.
Tonight, though: rain. Couples shuffle past quickly, huddled under umbrellas. There are fewer of them than usual. But the rain has advantages: they’re not paying attention to me.
I’ve been crouched here for hours. It’s not the most popular doorway, but it’s next to a dark alley. At last, someone hurries past, alone, with nobody else near.
I’ve drunk deeply of her before I recognize her face.
