Food happy

Y'know, I tend to think my man's pretty easy to please, but I still appreciate it greatly when he says he thinks my apple butter is the best jam he's ever had.

And we're talking about a Russian here. Jam's important.

Well, I like your...eggplants. :)

Apparently with Hungarians it's pate and pork fat.

Hey, baby, nice eggplants!

Have I cooked for you guys, yet? I get the sense the only times we've eaten together it's either been out or a collection of Russian hors d'ouvres which we mostly bought...

(Oh and hey, could you ping me about tonight wrt my email yesterday?)

So. very. domestic.

[identity profile] dietrich.livejournal.com 2005-11-04 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, well. :)

You know, sometimes I read your entries and the quotations from some of the magazines you cite are so hip I can't even understand them. Like, literally I almost could not parse this sentence: "Tomorrow 24 Prince is hoping to jump into the seriously choppy waters where La Esquina and most recently The Back Room ( covered by the Times over the weekend) started: the hidden bar."

Like, what?

Clearly I'm descending into domestic hell bliss.

Now, I'm sorry because, um, I wrote that sentence. (I try to link to all my articles when they go up.) The sentence was referring to the current trend towards unmarked doors and speakeasies- the links within the article do explain more, in my defense.

I can't cook- I've fucked up toast in the past. Or in Michael Patrick King's words, "I'll I've ever made in the kitchen was a mess. And a grease fire once." It's a good thing my boyfriend cooks because once in a while I like eating in and not tipping delivery men.

Ah! Yes, I went to the article this time when I went to look for the quotation. I got it. It was funny. :) I especially liked, "Since when do we have to be convinced to drink?"

Now I know they're your articles, I'll click through to them! *slaps forehead*

I wasn't suggesting so much that the sentence was bad as that I don't understand nightclub culture and was really depressed and screwy yesterday and couldn't get immediately that those were the names of bars and that you were making a ship metaphor. (i.e. the old saw, it's not you, it's me.) Also, your world is, as I said, just way more hip than mine. :)

I have to admit, I'm salivating thinking about apple butter right now.
