So I like Rufus Wainwright and all that.

But why, why, WHY did he deem it necessary to cover Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" when 1) it was a perfectly fucking great song when Cohen did it, and 2) it was one of the most brilliant pieces of music I've ever heard when Jeff Buckley did it??

Perfectly good song without you, Rufey. Now go do some more Beatles covers and shut the fuck up.

Because Leonard Cohen is a Mtler, and every Mtl musician (like Rufus) is morally obliged to cover a leonard cohen tune.

it's not illegal yet. I heard Buckley's version first which I loved, later I heard most of the original, which paled in comparison, people fall in love with a song and want to perform it. it's ok to ignore them though. email me sometime eh?
