[100 days of 100 words] 53/100
Apr. 3rd, 2008 12:27 pmIt doesn’t matter how nice and sunlit they try to make the hospital waiting room: it’s still a hospital waiting room. By its very nature a depressing, tense and above all boring place where people sit around waiting to hear about their loved ones. Lives hang in the balance, not just life or death, but life or half-life: will whatever is happening right now, invisibly, change you forever?
In this limbo, your general worry is superseded by the frustration of complete impotence: nothing to do but wait. In this miniature hell, nothing seems to be happening. But anything could be.
