Random thoughts for the day.
Jan. 24th, 2003 03:26 pm- I complain about how much Au Bon Pain stuff costs. Which is a lot, and for no good reason. But I must admit that they have rockin' soup, and the Mass Art cafeteria has it for $2.50.
- Egg salad is also yum.
- There is a weird sort of self-reflexive thought process going on within me every day I'm at this job: here I am proofreading a book talking about productivity and health care, which is filled with references to studies about how often workers aren't actually working when on the job. And every ten pages or so of editing, I have to take an Internet break.
- I have a hot date tonight! (Yet I'm not looking forward to the 15-minute walk from Davis...brrr!)
- Acne sucks, but it continues to improve.
- I keep having all these great LJ entry ideas as I ride the bus to work in the morning. Then I don't write them because I need to get to work. The afternoon rolls around, and I don't really *forget* them; they just don't seem like really great ideas anymore. Perhaps this is some sort of natural filtering process; I remember reading an article stating that poets, even when they're staring into space, perhaps even especially then, are still working. Sometimes an idea needs to percolate a bit in my head before I write it down. If it still seems like a great idea in a few hours, I go for it. Sometimes writing something down destroys it.
- My idea this morning had something to do with my disgust over The Boston Metro, but it never fully fledged, and ultimately didn't seem worth it. Instead, I'll let the headlines that sparked it speak for themselves:
All on the World page:
"Massive pro-Chavez rally protests opposition strike"
"Border area 'feeding' terrorist groups--U.S."
"Koreas may cooperate for peaceful solutions"
"Three Israelis murdered in West Bank attack"
"Legal ruling clears way for deportations"
"International Ecstasy ring smashed in Spain"
"Danish police robot guns down teddy bear"
"Blast kills seven at ammunitions depot"
"Washington dismisses growing opposition"
and right next to that, the Metro's "Hello There" column, interviewing Dara Klein, global makeup artist for Stila Cosmetics.
My title line was to be: "The wrong shade of foundation and not enough mascara."
Should I let all that speak for itself?
(by the way: see Bowling for Columbine if you haven't.)
