I like the plot arc thingy. Would you throw your interesting introspections in as a handfull of interesting semi-tangents (like Snow Crash), or integrate the introspections with the plot? I don't know what professional writers call that, but Rand calls it a plot-theme, and it's a common element in my favorite books.
